Kitchen Diaries W.I.P

So I had really wanted to do up the kitchen. I wasn’t a fan of it at all, but I didn’t have the cash for a full refit so I looked at what I had to update it and think of some alternatives. I’ve chucked some of the estate agent pics so you can see what I started with. Not super offensive but not my bag.

I was scrolling through Instagram as you do and came across @thetierneyterracelocation - I loved their blue doors so after a lot of stalking I found their supplier and grabbed myself a tub. I thought having a bold colour would be the way to go available from mylands.com

I also chucked a mood board for the kind of vibe I wanted to go for, with those palm spring colours to help brighten up the space.

I went on Etsy to buy some ply door handles to update the cupboards and then contact Alex from Et Al interiors to help me with the rest. I was sure I wanted ply-cladded doors, keeping the cupboard carcass’s to keep down costs with simple matt black handles. (we decided this later) He also cladded round an Ikea unit around my fridge creating loads of new storage and tidying the previous dumping ground up. I’m yet to vinyl the door black so I need to put in and order with Jes Rose Vinyl

I had asked for a peg board on one side of the wall and carried the blue across an additional wall. Alex Suggested we switch the worktops to a white formica to help pull in the light as its a bit of a dingy space at times (as you can see from my photos)

He also suggested a simple white metro square time but with a blue grout to compliment the doors. The only thing I didn’t get round to doing was changing the flooring as I have some issue with pipes in the bathroom I need to sort out first but eventually we hope to lay a terrazzo style vinyl to again help brighten things up.

Its by no means finished and theres lots of details like the windows , painting a pink back wall (I’m looking into Bauwerk colour paints) & some wiggly paint lines that need tidying, but its a good start and has made a big difference to the kitchen Generally when you’re doing more yourself it can be really tricky to get the finishes of big budget renovations! With the excess paint I also painted the door frames which still need another quote but I’m really happy with and help tie all the blue in together!

I’ll keep you posted on progress. :)
